Reading
Isaiah
25:6-10a
On this mountain the LORD of hosts will provide for all peoples a feast of rich
food and choice wines, juicy, rich food and pure, choice wines. On this
mountain he will destroy the veil that veils all peoples, the web that is woven
over all nations; he will destroy death forever. The Lord GOD will wipe away
the tears from every face; the reproach of his people he will remove from the
whole earth; for the LORD has spoken. On that day it will be said: "Behold
our God, to whom we looked to save us! This is the LORD for whom we looked; let
us rejoice and be glad that he has saved us!" For the hand of the LORD
will rest on this mountain.
Gospel
Matthew 22:1-14 or 22:1-10
Jesus again in reply spoke to the chief priests and elders of the people in
parables, saying, "The kingdom of heaven may be likened to a king who gave
a wedding feast for his son. He dispatched his servants to summon the invited
guests to the feast, but they refused to come. A second time he sent other
servants, saying, ‘Tell those invited: “Behold, I have prepared my banquet, my
calves and fattened cattle are killed, and everything is ready; come to the
feast.” Some ignored the invitation and went away, one to his farm, another to
his business. The rest laid hold of his servants, mistreated them, and killed
them. The king was enraged and sent his troops, destroyed those murderers, and
burned their city. Then he said to his servants, 'The feast is ready, but those
who were invited were not worthy to come. Go out, therefore, into the main
roads and invite to the feast whomever you find.’ The servants went out into
the streets and gathered all they found, bad and good alike, and the hall was
filled with guests. But when the king came in to meet the guests, he saw a man
there not dressed in a wedding garment. The king said to him, 'My friend how is
it that you came in here without a wedding garment?' But he was reduced to
silence. Then the king said to his attendants, 'Bind his hands and feet, and
cast him into the darkness outside, where there will be wailing and grinding of
teeth.’ Many are invited, but few are chosen."

However humble or great, we need to thank God for the gift of
shelter, something we so often take for granted. Our collection falls short of our budget, and
so our ability to server and help falls short.

October 21st. This 2:00 p.m. celebration brings to a
formal close the Eucharistic Year originally proclaimed by Pope John Paul II.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT
A huge THANK YOU for
supporting the bake sale last weekend.
With your generous support, we were able to deposit more than $1250 into
the Warren Hudgen's Fund at the American Marine Bank. In these next weeks, please continue to
support the Hudgens family in any way that you can.
EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS
There
is still one of the crosses missing from the Sacristy. If you have it please return it as soon as
possible. Please also remember to leave
them in the Sacristy at the end of Mass. Thank you.
HELP SUPPORT A PARISH IN NIGERIA
We
have several items that we no longer use in our parish. Rather than discarding them, we want to send
them to Fr. Godson in Nigeria. There are several parishes there that could
use them. They include Religious Ed
books, bibles, and such. The Knights of
Columbus are having their Pancake Breakfast on October 9 and will be raising
money to cover the cost of shipping the books to Fr. Godson. Please stop by, enjoy some pancakes and
donate some money to help educate children who are not as fortunate.
ATTENTION
CCD PARENTS
Parents of all CCD children, please
remember that you have to pick your child up from his/her classroom at the end
of class. Children are not to be
dismissed from their class until a parent is present. (Also please remind your children to be on
their best behavior as there is limited time for class.)
ADVICE FROM THE CHURCH MOUSE
If the love of God is in your
heart, you will understand that to suffer for God, is a joy to which all
earthly pleasures are not to be compared. –St. Ignatius
GOSPEL TRUTH FOR THE YOUTH
What if you gave a wonderful
party and invited all your friends over to share in your happiness? How would you feel if they did not come? Or, if they did come, they looked as if they
were going camping instead of your fancy party?
You’d be hurt and sad. This is
what Jesus talks about in today’s gospel when he tells the story of a king who
invited guests to his son’s wedding feast and many did not come. Some of those who did were not properly
dressed. God, like the king in the
parable, invites us to share in His kingdom and happiness. Yet, how many of us say yes? How do you say yes to God? For this week, think of things to do to make
God happy. And at the end of the week,
you too will smile, because you’ll be in His party. And that’ll be a great
celebration!
CROPWALK UPDATE
Congratulations to St.
Cecilia's Walkers, Recruiters and Sponsors!
We tripled last year's participation and raised over $1700. This will go towards feeding those who are
hungry, both locally and globally. This
marked the 10th anniversary of the Cropwalk on Bainbridge and for the 10th year
in a row the weather was spectacular. A
special thanks to all who participated.
The following recruiters' envelopes are still
outstanding: 6361, 6362,
6365, 6366, 6367, 6371, and 6376. Please
turn them in to the parish office ASAP, particularly if containing funds, as
our local match sponsor is still willing to match funds that are turned
in. Thanks and see you all for next
year's event.

SCCS BAKESALE TO
SUPPORT STUDENTS OF LITTLE FLOWER
SCHOOL IN MOBILE,
ALABAMA
Little
Flower
School is taking in students from Louisiana who lost their
homes to Hurricane Katrina. SCCS has
“adopted” Little Flower for this school year.
Our students will raise money to send to the school and write letters of
support and friendship to their students.
The Principal of Little Flower wants to replace one special, personal
item lost by each student affected by the hurricane. She will send us the list of items that the
children miss most and we will replace those items. Please support the SCCS bake sale after 10:00 mass on October 16th
by contributing baked goods and/or purchasing them on that day. Help us make a difference in the lives of
children who lost everything they owned during the hurricane. Baked goods can
be dropped off in Conger Hall before the 10:00
mass on October 16th.Thank you for the support of this mission! For
more information, please call Carol Jelinek:
780-0198 or Lynne Gallivan: 780-8161
