FUNERAL GUIDELINES AT ST. CECILIA PARISH †

The person arranging a funeral should confer with the pastor at least three days before the funeral. Of first importance will be the setting of a date and time for the funeral. Details regarding a vigil service, a funeral mass, and a graveside service will be arranged. Families may also desire a reception. St. Cecilia Parish makes its church and Conger Hall available to parishioners for funerals.

Funerals usually occur on weekday or Saturday mornings at 10:00am. A reception may follow a funeral in the parish hall depending on the availability of Conger Hall. The Legion of Mary donates its energies to this apostolate by arranging simple refreshment, serving, and cleaning after the reception. The Legion of Mary, in consultation with this family, will order food; the family will pay the cost of this food. If the family desires a full meal, the family should arrange a caterer. The Director of Facilities has charge of the kitchen and of other hall use. After a catered meal, the family will arrange clean-up.

Usual stipends:

Funeral in Church $200
Conger Hall reception $300
Food for the reception – paid by the family

Stipends for the organist and soloist ($125 each) and to the acolytes ($20 each) go to these individuals. It is customary for the funeral director to collect these amounts and forward them to the parish and the named individuals. The family often makes a donation to the parish to commemorate the deceased.

Also, you might choose to memorialize your loved person by dedicating a room or a space in our new Faith Center; you could arrange this by contacting the parish office.

Funerals may be scheduled for all days other than Sundays or Holy Days.
